Richard White founded software company WiseTech Global in 1994 to help logistics companies manage goods and information across supply chains.
Since the company went public in 2016, WiseTech has been recording strong growth in revenue over the years, in part buoyed by acquisitions worldwide.
Touted as Australia's next Atlassian, Sydney-based WiseTech has more than 17,000 customers in 193 countries.
Its cloud-based logistics platform, CargoWise One, can automate dozens of steps.
In late 2024, White resigned from WiseTech, after 30 years as CEO, following reports of personal scandals. But from February 2025, he has assumed the title of executive chair and chief innovation officer, a role with an initial ten-year tenure.
A former musician, refrigeration engineer and computer wholesaler, White has repaired guitars for top Australian rock bands like AC/DC and The Angels.
Before setting up WiseTech, White had started two other ventures in computer consulting and distribution of IT equipment.
In January 2026, WiseTech said it plans to buy the Canberra-based Centre for Customs and Excise Studies (CCES), a training provider in customs and border management.
