Lőrinc Meszáros is a close friend of Viktor Orbán, Hungary's former Prime Minister, and also the richest and most famous oligarch in the country.
He founded a small gas-fitting company in Felcsút, Orbán's home village, in 1990. In the 2000s the two men became acquainted through football.
Meszaros' gas-fitting company, Meszaros & Meszaros, is now a big player in the construction market thanks to government contracts. Orbán lost power in 2026.
