Alex Bouzari is the cofounder and CEO of data storage company DDN.
Bouzari was born in Paris to Iranian parents. He grew up in Iran, before returning to France for high school then moving to the United States to study at Caltech.
Bouzari met his future cofounder Paul Bloch at Caltech. Their first business was an early digitizer software that transformed handwriting into text.
They broke into the computer storage business in 1998 with Mega Drive Systems, which they later rebranded as DDN in a pivot to focus on selling data storage for the supercomputers at research labs like NASA and the Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory.
DDN's tech now powers Nvidia's AI supercomputers.
The pair grew the Los Angeles, California-based business largely without external capital until selling a $300 million stake at a $5 billion valuation to Blackstone in 2025.
